PE & Sports Premium
The government provides additional funding of £150 million per year to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. It is up to schools to decide where and how they will use this additional funding, but it should be used to make sustainable improvements the quality of PE and sport in school.
In following summary states how we spent our full allocation of £22,360.00 in 2024/2025. This was broken down into:
-
£6,610 on staff training and CPD
-
£11,796 on internal sporting activities including lunchtime sports coaching and additional swimming tuition
-
£2,954 on external sporting activities including sport network competitions
The outcomes for swimming are positive and show that by the end of Y6:
-
79% of children can swim 25 metres; 60% can swim with a range of strokes; and 61% can perform self-rescue in the water.
Our sports on offer to the children outside the curriculum are varied and run in different terms, they include : Football- boys, mixed and girls only, Cricket, Multiskills/sports, Karate, Dodgeball, Cross country (athletics)
We also have wonderful enrichment lessons from year 1 to year 6 giving the children the opportunity to try a new and different sport. Last year we took part in archery and this year it will be fencing.
